His parents, Pamela Olich Tweten and Brian Tweten mention the influence of George and Marija Franulovich inviting them to gatherings at their home with other Croats playing music, dancing, singing and enjoying good food. He recalls at the age of 3 going to parties at the Croatian Club and dancing to Tambura music. Her second husband: Cletus Schulte.Matthew Tweten was immersed in the music and culture of the Croatian community in Anacortes, Washington at an early age so much so that it became his very being. Brothers: Gilman (Gladys) Lundtvedt, Kenneth Lundtvedt, Earnest (Lillian) Lundtvedt, Arnold Lundtvedt and Oscar Lundtvedt. Three children: Larry Tweten, Shirleen Tweten and Lynette Tweten. Sisters-in-law: Margaret Lundtvedt, Caledonia, MN and Marlene Lundtvedt Banitt, Albert Lea, MN along with many nieces and nephews. Sister: Arla Mae (Lester) Hjelmeland, Winona, MN. Sixty-two great grandchildren and eight great-great grandchildren. Twenty-seven grandchildren: Scott Tweten, Brent (Heidi) Tweten, Michelle (Mark) Borreson, Matt (Jennie) Stortz, Mitch (Amanda) Stortz, Melissa (Aaron) Lovstuen, Melinda (Dan) Christopher, Toni (John) McCabe, Stacy Tweten, Wendy (James) Baker, John (Rachel) Tweten, Jamie (Amy) Tweten, Jason (Tera) Tweten, Shawn Tweten, Heather Tweten, Amy (Scott) Courtney, Angie Headington, Andrea (Mike) Pepin, Aron (Brittney) Dahl, Ashlyn Dahl, Jenny (Chet) Wilson, Tracy Tweten, Miranda (fiancé, Shane Hruska) Tweten, Tyler (fiancé, Nicole Baumler) Tweten, Travis Tweten, Troy Tweten, Trent (friend, Christine Lee) Tweten. Marlys is survived by her children: Beverly (Gary) Stortz, Highlandville, IA Wayne (Arletta) Tweten, Cresco, IA Denis (Jolene) Tweten, Decorah, IA Darlene (Chuck) Dahl, Decorah, IA David (Jean) Tweten, Decorah, IA and Randy (Marie) Tweten, Decorah, IA. Above all, Marlys loved and cherished her family, grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. After being widowed, her card club and singles group became very important to her. She taught Sunday School in Mabel and Decorah for eighteen years and was also an officer of the circle group. Marlys was a member of the First Lutheran Church in Mabel, Minnesota. Marlys was proud of calling every one of her family members on their birthdays and sending each of them a gift at Christmas. She enjoyed playing cards, dancing and making silk flowers. ![]() They operated the Villager Drive In, in Canton, MN for ten summers. She was a stay at home mother, taking care of her eight children as well as farming with her husband. She married Selmer Odell Tweten on Apat the Pontoppidan Lutheran Church. ![]() Marlys attended teachers training at Luther College and then taught rural school for three years. She graduated from Decorah High School on May 11, 1944. Marlys was baptized on Jand confirmed on Augboth at Pontopiddan Lutheran Church. Marlys Josephine (Lundtvedt) Tweten Schulte was born on in Glenwood Twp., rural Winneshiek County, IA the daughter of Gunder and Olga (Skaim) Lundtvedt. until the time of service at the Decorah Lutheran Church on Saturday morning. Burial will be in the Mabel Lutheran Cemetery, Mabel, MN. on Saturday, Apat the Decorah Lutheran Church, 309 Winnebago Street, Decorah, IA with Rev. Marlys Tweten Schulte, age 91, of Decorah, Iowa died on Wednesday, Apat Wellington Place in Decorah, IA.įuneral services will be held at 12:00 p.m.
